what a more powerful engine? Fritz 14 or Rybka 4?

Post  ZEUS on Wed Dec 18, 2013 12:37 am

Hello, I have two questions.

1. what a more powerful engine? Fritz 14 or Rybka 4?
2. Unfortunately, I could not find a download of the full Rybka 4. Anyone know where I can find it?

Thanks in advance Smile

Of course Rybka is much better than Fritz. Anyway the Fritz is still under development. Rybka is not so there is potential of future versions of Fritz to be better. Maybe Fritz 15 or 16.
The best way to download it is torrent:
Code:
http://thepiratebay.pe/torrent/6269427/Deep_Rybka_4.1_UCI_Chess_Engines

The ratings of all engines (almost, the newest ones are not tested yet - like Komodo TCEC) you can find here:
Code:
http://www.computerchess.org.uk/ccrl/404/rating_list_all.html
These are 40/4 ratings in blitz game, 40/40 is long game.

Thanks for the answer. You helped me so much.

I have another question. What is the difference between Deep Rybka 4.1 and Deep Rybka 4.1 SSE42?

well, there is special one developed for Rybka specialy.
Code:
http://thepiratebay.gy/torrent/6089780/Rybka_4_opening_book
.

But you can also use Opening Encyclopedia by Chessbase. Current version is 2013.

Thank you.

I use Rybka Aquarium GUI 3 (I have not found a version 4). Only version 3 available on the website of the program.

I have already a files of the opening a book... it comes with the installation of the GUI. the files of the opening book called "test.ctg", "test.ctb" and "test.cto". Do I need to delete them and add the files of the Rybka 4? Or add them together with the rest?

well, you dont need to delete them. You just have to switch the book to Rybka. I am not sure how your version of aquarium works but at the newest one which I had the plesure with I just had to go to sandbox, switch to trees and click create CTG-based book. Then I choose the files and switch the default book to Rybka. Thats it.

P.S. If you want to use Aquarium, I recommend aquarium 2014, the newest version. You can connect it with any UCI engine you download - Rybka, Stockfish (free, open-source), or the best these times in blitz games Houdini.

Okay. I downloaded the Rybka Aquarium 2014 32-bit version (my windows xp is 32-bit).
I run the program, I insert the serial key, and the program is activated. I did not change anything and just started playing.

Unfortunately appeared strange error. Link to the picture of the error: ufu.co.il/files/owwww3bfxxgr69nfr1yt.jpg

I have no idea why this error appeared. As you see in the picture, the engine chosen is 32-bit. for some reason the program is trying to use a 64-bit engine, although I did not choose this engine.

How i can solve this problem? Thanks in advance.

Delete x64 version of Rybka in Engines. Always use 32-bit versions.
I recommend Stockfish or Houdini. Both are much stronger than Rybka.
Houdini 4 w32 (newest version):
Code:
https://mega.co.nz/#!YNEx2aIT!WqhfSzzQh0dd_vgE2iFDTDG4_YVwKzlOICSul9XcBCo
Stockfish (free for download):
Code:
www.stockfishchess.org

In Engines you can choose option add engine and add them into the Aquarium.

Thank you.

Sorry I ask too many questions, but I have one important question. After several moves, the tree shows "NO INFO". Why is this?

at first: ufu.co.il/files/oev658moj0ket9oouga7.jpg

After a few moves: ufu.co.il/files/x6ubnycvaxt8x7yynbmm.jpg

That is not analysis of engine but tree. Tree is opening book - there are a few starter moves (depend on the book, usually about 15). You have to click on analysis right from the tree tab in the same part of window like the tree. Then you are going to see the analysis of the engine.
