Hi Gary,

If the book is working OK for you then, as Masterone says, you must have all the required files on your computer.  If you go into the folder documents/chessbase/books you should have 4 files for this book:

amar.ctg
amar.cto
amar.ctb
amar.ini

So you don't need to find another link you can easily create a new one if you don't mind.  If you save all these 4 files into one zipped folder you can upload and share it  Use rghost  (http://rghost.net/) and click on browse then upload and point to where the zipped file is.  It will then give you a link that you can share on here.   Thanks.

Cool

Chessgod,

Thanks but that thread contains the same link our friend here has given and only has the ctg file, hence my request for re-upload from source.

Thanks

My friends:

I only have one single file (ctg) and works fine in my old 32-bits computer.

Hi Birdy,

Thanks - but its actually not possible to open a book just using the ctg file - you must have the other files for it to work. If you go into Fritz and do open/openings book and point to just amar.ctg without anyone of the other files you get what looks like an empty book with no games or moves in it. I have just tried it in several different Fritz GUI's and this is what happens. Not meaning to doubt you but I have been using ctg format books for over 10 years and never seen one that can work just with a ctg file. When you say it "works fine" could you explain what you mean. How do you see it working ? If it is you must have the other files somewhere.

Thanks.

Hi gambit_man!

No problem. By exchanging ideas the human being evolves.
After some "investigation" here's the results:

Short version: You are right. Without those missing 2 files it's just an empty book. No moves, no nothing.

Long version: I guess that the stockfish engine i was using to play with "amar.ctg", was problably linked to an .bin book, instead of a neutral SF.
So the moves played were not from amar.ctg but actually from that .bin book. Smile

I'm sorry to lead to deception.
