How to understand the engine output displayed on GUI.
Hi Everybody!
I am new to computer chess and engines. But some exploration thru google made available some chess engines ( Fruit, Toga-II and recently Houdini) and some engines provided with Arena GUI. I found Arena does not run Houdini 1.03a w32 well and displays abjudication errors after some moves are played. So I run Houdini on Winboard.
Also that I am unable to understand the output displayed on the GUI window which is like -
15 +0.05 20.02M 0:07.09 Nc3 h6 Bf4 Be6 Nxd5 Qc6 e4 g5 Bg3 f5 Nf6+ Kf7 exf5 Bxf5 Nd5 Be4
I need help on these two issues -
A. How to run Houdini on Arena GUI without interruption.
B. What are these numbers displayed in Chess Engine output and what good use can I make of them.
Waiting in hope for a reply.
regards - PKJoshi

Thanx ChessGod for taking interest. My system is 32-bit Intel Dual Core and I have installed Houdini 1.03a w32 2cpu engine. Hope this is what you have queried in the context. I shall be glad to provide any extra information if required. Thanx again.

Thank you for the reply. I am uncertain of the cause of the adjudication, but I can help you with the engine output.
15 +0.05 20.02M 0:07.09 Nc3 h6 Bf4 Be6 Nxd5 Qc6 e4 g5 Bg3 f5 Nf6+ Kf7 exf5 Bxf5 Nd5 Be4
This is the engine's analysis of the position. This is an engine's calculation of the position. Each line in the output is the engine's calculation of different continuations in that position. The +0.05 indicates that if the position continues as such houdini will have 0.05 point positional advantage.

Thanx ChessGod!
Glad that you explained but what are other three numbers i.e 15, 20.02M and 0:07.09. Can you refer some link that discuss in details these outputs of chess engines.
