Stockfish 9 BMI2 vs AlphaZero on my PC

Post  gpaunica on Thu Mar 08, 2018 2:55 pm

Hello friends,
I found on the net AlphaZero chess engine and I have tested with Stockfish 9, the result was a win for Stockfish 9 by only a game, but a win, not like I read on the net that AlphaZero "destroys" Stockfish. It is true at that match AlphaZero was playing against Stockfish 8, but anyway it seems too big difference.
Conditions:
GUI: ChessGUI, an excellent chess GUI for engine competitions --> http://www.chess.hylogic.de/
CPU: Intel Core I7 7700K, 5 Threads each engine
Hash: 1024 Mb each engine
Opening book: I used the internal GUI book up to move 7, playing each opening twice
EGTB: Syzygy up to 5 pieces

Thanks for the post.
Do you have downloaded the engine from my link?
This engine is not AlphaZero?
Thanks.

AlphaZero

Hahaha, very funny... Probably someone renamed an engine (probably Stockfish) as AlphaZero. Anyway, there is no way that this is AlphaZero, it would play poor chess on "normal" hardware, probably Smile
