How to extract games from a .ctg opening book?

Post  gpaunica on Wed Jun 20, 2018 5:16 pm

Hello,
I downloaded a pgn database, I use this database to create a .ctg book with only first 7 moves from each game, and now I want to extract those games with only 7 moves from this .ctg opening book and copy them in a new pgn database, can I?
Or if I cannot do this operation can you suggest a way to cut the main pgn database games from move 8 to the end?
Thanks a lot.

Nope. Why?
Coz of in a ctg file there is no game is stored. Ctg is used mainly by chess gui to drive chess engine to pass opening stage.
Programs that can read ctg file are: ChessBase and Aquarium. Maybe there is other program that capable too.
